A Letter To My Young Self
Dear Younger Self,
Life is not easy, neither is growing up. You are going to spend years being anxious, depressed and lost. But you will finally realize that changes happen one day at a time. I know you like to paint, read, socialize and learn about yourself. Yet, you will lose all of that when you start listening to your surroundings and your insecurities. People are going to put their burdens on your shoulders for you to carry it.
You watch Animes all day at home, but when you go to someone else's house, you let them influence you to forget about what you truly love. You enjoy painting with your grandmother until people start questioning your hobbies saying that they are useless. Your surrounding is turning you bitter, sad, and unappreciative of love. Your love is being corrupted. You are losing your light and your smile.
Yes, you let too many people dictate your life. You do not want to be lonely. You want to please everyone because you think everyone is a good person. The same people you are listening to right now, are not going to help you to be a better person. They are not going to be in your life in the next 2 years. So why are you focusing on their opinion of you?
The person you are going to be will have so much potential. You will drop all expectations and rebuild your life (mentally, physically and spiritually). People opinions will no longer matter. You will realise that people only told you to drop your dreams because they were unable to follow theirs. Those same dreams are what will save you during a pandemic, so love yourself, flaws and all.
You can do more than what you tell yourself you could. You will pick up painting again (and you will be great at it). You will pick up photography and writing. There are time where you will think that you are alone, but you are not. You will find love (a supportive husband), and you will build your family with the people that always believed in you. Do not be afraid to challenge yourself and push through.
Change your perspectives about life; and let people see you for who you are. Let them be afraid of your potential because it is Limitless.
To everyone: We may be playing a game right now. So why not just enjoy the journey?
